Southern California Extreme Heat Warning in Effect

An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for parts of Los Angeles and surrounding areas.

The National Weather Service says the warning will be in effect from 11 AM Wednesday until 8 PM PDT Sunday as a prolonged and dangerous heat wave moves across Southern California.

Temperatures across the region are expected to climb well above normal, with many areas potentially reaching triple digits, creating hazardous conditions, especially for seniors, children, and those without access to cooling.

Officials are urging residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors and family members.

Cooling centers may be opened across the county to provide relief from the heat.

Drivers are also reminded never to leave children or pets in parked vehicles, as temperatures inside a car can rise to deadly levels within minutes.

Residents should continue to monitor updates from the National Weather Service and local authorities as the heat event develops.

Reporting from Los Angeles, this is your weather update.
